Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Blount Memorial Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide comprehensive and professional nursing care to patients of all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide High-Quality Patient Care
    • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless transitions between departments.
  • Manage Emergency Situations
    • Respond to emergency situations with calm and professionalism, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
    • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve complex patient care issues.
  • Communicate Effectively
    • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
    • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, using electronic medical records and other documentation tools.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement
    • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
    • Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Tennessee.
    • Current certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS (or ENPC), and TNCC or completion within one year of hire.
    • Three or more years of experience in an acute care, emergency, or trauma care setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Knowledge of scope of practice of the emergency department staff.
    • Knowledge of and appropriate application of nursing process.
    • Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, and techniques involved in administering routine medications and treatments to patients.
    • Organizational skills, effective oral and written communication, and active listening skills.
    • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Abilities
    • Ability to communicate clearly with a positive manner with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others.
    • Ability to maintain a positive and open attitude to change.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, seeking out resources as needed.
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize efficiently and effectively.
    • Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and paper documentation tools.
    • Ability to think critically and problem-solve while remaining focused and organized in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
