Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a VAPA Coach / Peer Mentor. The successful candidate will lead groups of students through structured games based on our curriculum, focusing on visual/performing arts themes, dance, music, sports, and other activities. They will also support kids' behavioral management needs, work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and fellow coaches, and serve as a positive role model to build kids' self-esteem and emotional wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead groups of students through structured games based on the Elevo curriculum.
  • Engage students in visual/performing arts themes, dance, music, sports, and other activities.
  • Support kids' behavioral management needs.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with school administrators, teachers, and fellow coaches.
  • Serve as a positive role model to build kids' self-esteem and emotional wellness.

Requirements

  • Have been successful working with elementary and/or middle school kids.
  • Confidently manage groups of up to 20 students with minimal assistance.
  • Can improvise, adapt, and take initiative when needed.
  • Are approachable, empathetic, patient, and able to build trust with kids.
  • Present yourself as a confident leader and a positive role model.
  • Connect with students and foster positive learning experiences.
  • Pay close attention to student needs and adjust activities accordingly.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, complete and pass a Live-Scan background check, and TB screening.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in dance, media arts, music, theatre, and the visual arts.
  • 1-2 years of working experience in education, coaching, child development, or other child-focused experiences strongly preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Willing to follow COVID-19 protocols outlined by the school.

Salary Range

$20 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
