Position Overview:
Breast Imaging Specialist
The Breast Imaging Specialist is tasked with conducting mammography examinations in accordance with ACR standards.
This role also involves assisting with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures within the Breast Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.
- Assist in procedures utilizing ultrasound guidance.
- Provide immobilization devices, select appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operate equipment for specific procedures.
- Accurately identify patient films with the correct name, x-ray number, and properly mark films indicating the side of the patient, along with initialing all films.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist's initials, date number, and film sizes.
- Aid in quality control procedures and documentation of: phantom image, darkroom fog test, screen-film contact test, repeat analysis, fixer retention analysis, screen cleanliness, compression test, visual machine checks, processor quality control, view box, and darkroom cleanliness, as directed by the Chief Mammography Technologist.
- Prepare cases for imaging, including charts and films.
Assists with compiling statistics for:
- Patient follow-ups
- Tracking of breast localizations
- Patients requiring biopsies
- Ultrasound examinations
- Follow-up on positive biopsy reports.
- Document procedures related to quality control and assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA regulations.
- Record any pertinent information regarding patients in the Breast Center chart.
- Recognize the needs of the patient population served and tailor care accordingly (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to company organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Educational Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an AMA accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Certifications & Licensure Required:
- Must possess ARRT certification.
- Must obtain mammography certification within the first three months of employment.
- Must hold an active Diagnostic Radiography License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist.
Schedule Details: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. 5x8 hours.
13 Weeks.
Every other weekend.
No Holidays.
No on-call duties.
Work will be conducted at the breast center institute.
