The primary role of the Security Specialist is to prevent crime and maintain order during assigned shifts. This position involves patrolling the premises or standing guard as directed, serving as a visible deterrent to criminal activity and violations of client policies. Responsibilities include detecting suspicious behavior, monitoring for criminal acts, and responding to incidents as dispatched, providing necessary assistance, and securing the scene until relieved. Additionally, this role entails conducting initial investigations of incidents and completing all relevant reports.

As a Professional Security Specialist at Allied Universal®, you will work within a healthcare environment, ensuring the safety and security of the facilities. Our security personnel are essential in fulfilling our mission to "serve, secure, and care for the people and businesses in our communities." Responsibilities include acting as a visible deterrent to crime and reporting any suspicious or unsafe activities that may threaten the property, clients, guests, or employees.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Ideal candidates for the Security Specialist position will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age of 18; 21 for Armed or Taser roles.
  • High school diploma, college degree, or GED required; education must be verifiable.
  • Five years of work experience within the last five years, with at least two years of verifiable work history.
  • Background investigation and drug screening will be conducted as a condition of employment.
  • Valid guard card/license as required by state regulations.
  • For Driving Positions: Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and at least one year of driving experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and the public.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and logs clearly and legibly; computer skills may be required.
  • Must maintain current active status of all required licenses while on duty.
  • Capability to manage both routine and crisis situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Professional demeanor when answering phones or greeting guests/employees.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to handle the pressures of working with a high volume of the general public.

Grooming/Uniform Standards:

Grooming standards for this position include:

  • Uniform must be clean and worn in a professional manner at all times.
  • No visible face or neck tattoos.
  • Fingernails must not exceed 1/4 inch from the fingertip.
  • ID badge must be displayed at all times while on client property.
  • Footwear must be slip-resistant.
  • Compliance with CDC Hand Hygiene Standards is mandatory.
  • Use of personal electronic devices is prohibited while on duty.

Physical and Mental Functions:

  • Ability to navigate stairs and assist in patient transport as needed.
  • Occasional bending and twisting to perform various duties.
  • Capacity to restrain individuals when necessary to prevent harm.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
