Key Responsibilities

The Dietary Cook plays a vital role in ensuring that each resident receives nutritious and appealing meals as prescribed by healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and serving meals while adhering to portion control guidelines.
  • Ensuring timely thawing and proper storage of food items.
  • Reviewing daily menus and production sheets with the Food Service Supervisor.
  • Operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Documenting cleaning schedules and ensuring compliance.
  • Labeling and dating food items, and rotating stock appropriately.
  • Monitoring food temperatures and documenting as required.
  • Maintaining effective communication with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Knowledge of large-scale cooking techniques.
  • Understanding of portion control and quality assurance practices.
  • Familiarity with modified dietary requirements.
  • Experience with food ordering and inventory management.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions.
