Job Summary:
A Class A truck driver position is available at Eastern Metal Supply. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting, loading and unloading materials to customers on public roads. This is a full-time position requiring 1 to 2 overnight stays per week.

With nine strategic locations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, we service a wide geographic area. Our window division, EAS, manufactures aluminum and vinyl impact windows and doors, and our recent acquisition of Tigress Company has enabled us to expand into marine products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title:
  1. Operate company trucks on public roads to transport, load and unload material to EMS customers.
  2. Complete a driver's logbook and vehicle inspection report according to DOT regulations.
  3. Inspect vehicle and required equipment to determine safe operating conditions prior to departure.
  4. Review shipping papers for nature of load and special handling requirements if any.
  5. Check load to determine if it's properly secured and safe.
  6. Backup truck to loading platform; turn narrow corners; negotiate narrow passageways; keep truck and trailer under control particularly on wet or icy highways.
  7. Safely load and unload cargo as required.
  8. Maintain the truck in a clean and safe manner.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A Class 'A' CDL driver's license.
  • Prior experience driving a 53ft tractor trailer is preferred.
  • No more than one major traffic violation within the past five years.
  • The ability to lift and carry heavy material (at least 75 lbs.).
  • The ability to climb on and off a flatbed trailer.
  • Basic math skills.
  • The ability to read a tape measure.
