OVERVIEW
  • In collaboration with the Custodial Foreman, this role entails executing essential cleaning duties to fulfill custodial contract requirements while aiding in the oversight of custodial team performance.
  • This position is designated for individuals with diverse abilities. Verification of disability is necessary prior to the interview process.
  • The role is based in Washington, DC.
  • Standard working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • The hourly compensation is set at $20.50.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening is mandatory, along with the ability to secure and maintain a government security clearance.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Conducts sweeping and mopping of hallways, staircases, and office spaces.
  • Empties waste receptacles and disposes of trash according to established protocols.
  • Dusts surfaces to maintain cleanliness.
  • Ensures restrooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Applies wax and buffs floors using appropriate equipment.
  • Cleans windows and glass surfaces.
  • Washes walls and other vertical structures.
  • Performs snow removal tasks as dictated by contract obligations.
  • Polishes designated fixtures such as kick panels and door knobs.
  • Strips and waxes floors as needed.
  • Utilizes vacuum cleaners for rugs and carpets.
  • Prepares cleaning solutions as required.
  • Maintains and cares for assigned equipment.
  • Informs the supervisor regarding supply and equipment needs.
  • Temporarily supervises assigned workers while executing personal duties.
  • Takes charge of the crew in the absence of the Custodial Foreman.
  • Completes any additional tasks assigned by the Custodial Foreman.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
  • The Custodial Team Leader oversees Custodial Workers for 50% of their shift and in the absence of the Custodial Foreman.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
  • The individual is under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be capable of standing or walking for 90% of the work duration and sitting for 10%.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push or pull similar weight is essential for cleaning tasks and handling supplies.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as necessary.
  • These physical capabilities are crucial for using ladders and stairs, as well as cleaning various areas.
  • Effective communication with supervisors and coworkers is required.
  • Good vision, including depth perception and color distinction, is necessary for safety purposes.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in custodial services is necessary.
  • Some supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with diverse abilities is advantageous.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a security clearance process.
