A challenging and rewarding career opportunity is available for a Port Police and Security Specialist with the City of Los Angeles.

As a sworn peace officer, you will be responsible for enforcing federal and state regulations, City of Los Angeles ordinances, and security, traffic, and safety rules and regulations at the Port of Los Angeles.

You will engage in law enforcement activities, including uniformed foot, vehicle, boat, motorcycle, bicycle patrol and plainclothes assignments. This will involve arresting individuals who commit crimes within the port area and writing detailed reports of incidents.

In addition to your law enforcement duties, you will provide information to the public regarding locations and operations of the Department. You will also engage in hazardous materials enforcement and perform related work as required.

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be able to work effectively in a team environment and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
