Role Summary

Reporting to the Patient Support Services Manager, the Patient Support Specialist is often the initial point of contact for patients at Blackbird Health. This role is crucial in engaging and activating patients to ensure they receive the necessary care. Patient Support Specialists act as trusted allies, guiding patients through their journey towards improved mental health. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily outreach via phone to patients and families to address inquiries regarding Blackbird Health services
  • Manage incoming calls from prospective and current patients, ensuring timely responses and directing calls to appropriate team members
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, including sending reminders
  • Assist patients and families with necessary documentation, such as medical histories, to ensure appropriate care matching
  • Engage with individuals to understand their medical experiences and assess eligibility for Blackbird Health services
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including collecting copays and verifying insurance coverage
  • Compile medical records and reports to support high-quality patient care and integration with referring providers
  • Utilize office equipment and software applications to prepare reports, invoices, and medical records
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to enhance clinical skills and ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Demonstrate independent problem-solving skills and effective time management to meet productivity and quality standards
Qualifications
  • Some college coursework or an associate degree
  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience in telephonic outreach
  • Customer service experience
  • Genuine passion for helping others
  • Availability to work in a hybrid model, with up to three days in the clinic
  • Ability to efficiently manage daily and monthly workloads
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with diverse populations
  • Empathetic listening skills
  • Eagerness to thrive in a learning-oriented environment
  • Excellent time management and self-organization skills
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a mission-driven organization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in mental healthcare
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
