Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN to join our team at Henrico Doctors Hospital-Forest VA. As a Travel Nurse RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to surgical patients, including those undergoing colon resections, Whipple procedures, liver and kidney surgeries, vascular procedures, and trauma cases.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, including narcotics, and perform various medical procedures as needed.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a surgical unit, preferably with experience in stepdown and post-surgery care.
  • Ability to read cardiac monitors and interpret rhythm strips.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient acuity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
  • 12-bed surgical unit with a team of 20 healthcare professionals.
  • Central lines, PCA, epidural, drains, Foley, wound vac, and wound care equipment.
  • Meditech electronic medical record system.
  • Flexible scheduling with opportunities for overtime.
