Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Principal RF Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA or Arlington, VA. As a Principal RF Engineer, you will design, develop, and demonstrate new RF technologies that could enable enhanced performance in compact form factors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage expertise in RF metamaterials to analyze trades in performance and size, weight, and power for disruptive RF payloads
  • Utilize modeling tools to project performance vs power consumption trades for disruptive RF systems
  • Collaborate with RF engineers to evaluate and mature RF technologies, and develop a pipeline to transition them to production and integration into deployable systems
  • Contribute to developing a roadmap of novel RF technologies for future systems, and explore nascent concepts

Requirements

  • Bachelors in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field with 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field with 10+ years of prior relevant experience or Doctorate in technical domain above with 8+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Must have be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Proficient in applied computational electromagnetics and antenna systems
  • Expertise in RF device design using finite element-based design tools such as COMSOL, CST, or Lumerical
  • Strong understanding of material electrical and mechanical properties
  • Expertise in nascent RF device concepts such as metamaterials and time-varying systems
  • Proficient in Windows
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work directly with customers and deliver results
  • Mission oriented with a strong ability to guide a team towards goals and deliver real world products
  • Proficient with technical writing, documentation, and organization
  • Robust sense of initiative, a self-starter who can work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Doctorate in engineering, physics, optics, or equivalent field is preferred
  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Experience in designing and testing electrically-small antenna systems
  • Experience in building and validating RF device concepts in experimental prototypes
  • Experience with integrated circuit layout, printed circuit board (PCB design), National Instruments SW such as LabVIEW, Multisim, PXI
  • Programming experience, C/C++, Visual Basic. Aptitude and desire to perform programming for the purpose of data manipulation and processing
  • Experience in proposal development and business development
