Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and committed Billing Specialist to support our administrative operations. In this role, you will handle a range of responsibilities that require analytical skills, thorough assessment, and sound decision-making. Your daily tasks will encompass managing billing systems, addressing denied claims, and tracking overdue payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit billing information and medical claims to insurance providers.
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of patient medical records.
  • Generate invoices and bills, documenting amounts owed for medical services.
  • Collect and verify referrals and pre-authorizations.
  • Monitor overdue payments and maintain records.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve any financial discrepancies.
  • Review patient bills for correctness and request any missing details.
  • Investigate and contest denied claims.
  • Assist patients in creating payment plans.
  • Maintain billing software by updating rates, cash flow spreadsheets, and current collection reports.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Billing Certification from an accredited institution.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Medical Billing role or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of billing software and electronic medical records (E.C.W. preferred).
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience in OB/GYN or specialty billing is required.
