Position Overview:

The role involves providing comprehensive patient care by assessing medical histories and gathering, prioritizing, and synthesizing critical data relevant to patient health. This position encompasses both inpatient and outpatient care, focusing on individuals and families across all age groups, with particular expertise in general medicine, reproductive health, pregnancy, and childbirth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Deliver direct care to patients in family medicine and obstetrics.
    • Analyze patient medical histories while collecting and prioritizing relevant health data.
    • Evaluate and coordinate information to make informed decisions regarding patient care.
    • Provide education, consultation, and intervention to patients and their families.
    • Collaborate with patients to enhance their health and well-being.
    • Practice with consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy, and legal responsibilities.
    • Engage in a multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
    • Utilize resources and skills efficiently as part of the care delivery team.
    • Document patient interactions electronically in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • Provide care in various settings, including ambulatory clinics and hospitals.
    • Participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Employ quality improvement methodologies to enhance patient care delivery and outcomes.
    • Engage in peer review and quality assurance activities.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Family Medicine.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in the specialty area.
  • Active Physician License in the state of practice.
  • ACLS-BLS certification required within 180 days.
  • PALS certification may be required based on business unit.
  • NRP certification may be required based on business unit.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine with Obstetrics or Internal Medicine.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate and Prescription Monitoring Program registration required upon hire.
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work: Lifting up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently, in accordance with Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy.
