Breast Imaging Specialist

Position Overview:
The Breast Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing a range of technical procedures related to both screening and diagnostic mammography. Utilizing advanced X-ray technology, this role involves capturing detailed images of breast tissue and collaborating with radiologists to analyze the findings. The Breast Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in the early detection of breast cancer, significantly enhancing the likelihood of effective treatment and patient survival.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates mammographic imaging equipment and other relevant devices with precision.
- Communicates the mammography process to patients, addressing any inquiries or concerns they may have.
- Positions patients appropriately, employing immobilization techniques when necessary.
- Calculates exposure parameters and assists physicians during procedures.
- Conducts quality control assessments related to mammography practices.
- Reviews radiographs for diagnostic integrity, obtaining additional images as required.
- Prepares and organizes medical supplies, adhering to aseptic protocols when applicable, and explains procedures to patients prior to and during the process.
- Develops mammography films and ensures they are matched with the corresponding documentation for interpretation.
- Assists in the maintenance and collection of statistical data.
- Complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a current State License or Certificate in the applicable state.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technician is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients.
- Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification, if required.
- Completion of TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray as necessary.
- Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as relevant to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to and from appropriate individuals, including supervisors and colleagues, with proficiency in the English language.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday with variable shifts starting between 7 AM and 8:30 AM, including rotating weekends.
Certifications Required:
ARRT, CRT, and BLS certifications are mandatory.
