Job Summary

We are seeking a Disaster Mitigation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in hazard mitigation, including experience with FEMA 404 and 406 programs.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop and evaluate opportunities for hazard mitigation projects, prepare grant applications and benefit-cost analyses, and provide other services related to the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and other mitigation programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop opportunities for hazard mitigation projects to reduce or eliminate risk from future events
  • Develop and evaluate grant applications and benefit-cost analyses
  • Prepare other services related to the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and other mitigation programs
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal entities to achieve project goals

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in hazard mitigation, including experience with FEMA 404 and 406 programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Incident Command System/National Incident Management System (ICS/NIMS) certification or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license
  • Excellent skill and knowledge using various applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to professionally engage with local, state, and federal entities in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve utilizing critical thinking and high analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple and competing deadlines

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role may include working long hours, sitting or standing for extended periods, working at a computer for extended periods, and visiting or working in disaster-impacted areas.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
