Job Summary

Astronics is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the overall quality of parts, product, and manufacturing process. The successful candidate will ensure that all internal requirements, customer requirements, and industry and regulatory standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, report, and track quality data and metrics
  • Provide analysis results and ensure cross-functional teamwork to resolve issues
  • Act as a liaison for the Quality Management System
  • Oversee and provide reporting of designated quality initiatives and indicators
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving of quality issues
  • Manage daily quality activities, including receiving, in-process, sub-assembly, and finished goods inspection
  • Ensure closure of corrective actions, verification, and effectiveness
  • Support the Quality Manager/Supervisor in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System
  • Release and validate the introduction of new products to the manufacturing areas
  • Interact with multidisciplinary teams, including Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Supplier, and Customer
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to Quality Inspectors
  • Support the Compliance and Regulatory department by conducting audits and creating audit finding reports
  • Analyze defective product or material and provide corrective and preventive action
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap
  • Implement and comply with all ethical and legal compliance requirements

Requirements

  • Associates degree with +3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Design and Process FMEA
  • Quality Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, and Process Flow
  • Problem Solving: Ishikawa, 5W – 1H, Failure Tree Analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in Corrective and Preventive Actions, First Time Quality, Production Efficiency, Schedule attainment, and Statistical Process Control and Process Validation/Verification
  • Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Experience interacting with customers, suppliers, and senior management

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field
  • Experience in Project/Program Management
  • Design related software: SolidWorks, ProEngineer (ProE), AutoCAD
  • Six sigma certification: Green belt or higher
  • CQE/ASQ Certification
