Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a skilled Lab Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
About the Role
This is a casual/reserve phlebotomy position located at a client site in New Castle, IN. You will be required to work Thursday 8am - 4:30pm.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to multitask, and have experience working with patients of all ages. You will be expected to maintain accurate records, process lab specimens, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age-related standards.
- Provide post-phlebotomy patient care.
- Identify the need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate.
- Review and record refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records.
- Use manual requisitions and labels specimens appropriately.
- Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
- Prioritize tasks and multi-task effectively.
- Communicate accurately with patients and colleagues.
- Manage workload efficiently, completing tasks on time.
- Participate in efforts to reduce costs and improve services.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution.
