ROLE OVERVIEW:
AMD is seeking a Platform Applications Engineer specializing in System Solutions Thermal and Mechanical Design to become part of our Datacenter GPU System Solutions Team. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in developing top-tier thermal and mechanical solutions for AMD's Instinct series accelerators and systems.

Your responsibilities will involve close collaboration with internal architects, thermal and mechanical design engineers, silicon design engineers, key clients, and industry partners to enhance overall thermal and mechanical system solutions around AMD EPYC and Instinct products.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication abilities, planning skills, technical knowledge, and broad leadership capabilities, along with critical problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of data center infrastructure and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with AMD EPYC and Instinct processor silicon architects, thermal and mechanical architects & designers, PAE Solution architects, and Business Unit Product Marketing Managers to optimize customer system solutions based on AMD Instinct product lines for optimal performance, power balance, feature set, and overall system cost.
  • Utilize your thermal and/or mechanical development background to focus on the integration of silicon devices into products, datacenter design, and cooling, working as part of a global team to deliver commercially viable products efficiently.
  • Manage work assignments and coordinate results with a cross-functional team while developing key relationships with MDC/OEM/ODM customers.
  • Focus on technology development and productization of thermal/mechanical architecture provided by the concept team, including packaging technologies, production control, and system-level technologies for AMD's offerings.
  • Engage in post-silicon enablement work with partners, including test planning, characterization, data analysis, and customer/reference system design and characterization.

This role demands significant initiative and independent judgment. The selected candidate will have the capacity to influence and effectively communicate their vision throughout the organization, driving continuous improvement and innovative thinking regarding thermal design, architectures, and product definition.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to be a consistent force for innovation and improvement throughout your career.
  • Experience in leading and influencing junior engineers, playing a pivotal role in empowering and reinforcing the core values of the team.
  • Proven leadership and engineering skills to ensure the engineering team continuously innovates and applies best practices to add value for customers.
  • Solid understanding of thermal and mechanical design, simulation, analysis, design for test, and design for manufacture principles.
  • Familiarity with server infrastructure design and semiconductor device physics is advantageous.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Thermal / Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. An advanced engineering degree is a plus.

JOIN OUR TEAM:
At AMD, your compensation package is comprehensive, reflecting your skills, qualifications, and experience.
