Position Overview

The role of Medical Assistant encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Rooming patients and taking vital signs
  • Conducting point-of-care testing
  • Collecting and preparing lab specimens
  • Performing phlebotomy and administering vaccines
  • Documenting and ordering laboratory tests in electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Assisting with drug applications and prior authorizations
  • Supporting healthcare providers during procedures

At Lane County Health & Human Services, we recognize that healthy individuals are the cornerstone of thriving communities. Our Community Health Centers deliver affordable primary care to all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. We also provide integrated behavioral health services, alternative therapies like acupuncture, and preventive dental care. Our focus is on holistic care that prioritizes the well-being of the individual.

We have adopted the Patient-Centered Medical Home model, organizing our services around collaborative care teams. These teams consist of primary care providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators, and behavioral health specialists. This approach enhances patient access to comprehensive services beyond standard medical care, addressing social determinants of health such as transportation, food security, and housing challenges.

*Note: This position may require flexibility to float to other clinics as necessary for coverage and support.

Work Schedule: Four days a week with 10-hour shifts.

Qualifications for Medical Assistant 1:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certification obtainable within sixty (60) days of hire
  • No prior Medical Assistant experience required

Qualifications for Medical Assistant 2:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • Certification required at the time of hire
  • Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized program
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent documentation
  • Valid photo identification
