Mercy Health is seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities- Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
- Position patients comfortably and safely on the MRI scanning cradle to ensure accurate and effective imaging.
- Input patient information and select scan parameters for specific exams, ensuring compliance with established protocols and physician requests.
- Administer magnetic contrast agents and perform IV injections as necessary.
- Manipulate images using computer functions to optimize visualization of desired anatomy.
- Perform quality assurance tests and maintain clinical competency as required by the department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating patients, verifying patient ID, and related information to ensure appropriate procedures are performed.
- Explain procedures to patients, prepare them for exams, and ensure their comfort, privacy, and safety during procedures.
- Monitor patient condition and medical equipment, reporting changes to patient care services and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
- Participate in the education and instruction of students and the orientation of new staff.
- Contribute to performance improvement projects and assist the department in achieving successful results in federal, state, and local agency audits.
- Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology with Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must within one year of hire).
- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
- Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).
- 1 year of experience in an MRI department in a hospital setting (preferred).
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. You may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, high noise levels, bright lights, and limited hazardous substances or body fluids. You will be required to maintain confidentiality of all patient information and follow OSHA Standards and Universal Precautions.
