Job Summary:The Registered Nurse 2 is a critical care nurse who has mastered technical skills and identifies patterns of patient responses to implement solutions for current situations. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other disciplines and services to meet the needs of patients and families.
Responsibilities:- Utilize competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize care for complex patients based on knowledge acquired from previous clinical experiences.
- Recognize changes in patient status and consistently respond effectively.
- Individualize teaching plans based on a thorough assessment to meet the learning needs of patients and families.
- Demonstrate beginning leadership skills related to patient care and delegate effectively to optimize patient outcomes.
- Minimum of 9 months of experience in nursing.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in nursing (ADN).
- Within 1 year from the date of hire, employee must be enrolled in a BSN program.
- Current state of Illinois Registered Nursing License.
- ACLS for ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg (6west), Endoscopy, PACU, IR, and ED required within 3 months of hire.
- PALS PACU and ED required within 3 months of hire.
- Physical Demands: Work requires the ability to walk throughout the medical center and to be standing and walking most of the designated shift.
- Ability to care for patients in the following age categories: Toddlers (1-3 years), Pre-Schoolers (3-5 years), School Age (5-12 years), Adolescents (13-19 years), Young Adults (20-39 years), Middle Adults (40-64 years), and Older Adults (greater than 60).
