Job Overview

As a Buyer within our organization, you will be tasked with overseeing the procurement of materials in alignment with requisitions generated by planners. You will serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and operational teams, responsible for creating and acknowledging purchase orders, ensuring the accuracy of all released purchase orders for tracking and visibility across the organization, and notifying operations and tactical sourcing about any supplier delivery or performance issues. You will also monitor supplier shipments until materials are received at the facility and ensure timely processing of receipts in accordance with supplier documentation.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assess material requirements for the next three months, identify potential supply risks, and communicate with operations and sourcing for expedites (15%)

+ Monitor open purchase orders based on required dates or supplier commitments, tracking shipment progress and receipt entry (15%)

+ Convert material requisitions from planners into purchase orders (10%)

+ Maintain supplier purchase order knowledge and communicate delivery timelines through the appropriate channels (10%)

+ Execute planner requirements for material procurement, including adjustments and cancellations, and relay outcomes to planners (10%)

+ Address and resolve receiving material holds (5%)

+ Manage invoice holds effectively (5%)

+ Communicate necessary updates to sourcing regarding pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and standard packaging (5%)

+ Implement approved material deviations from engineering in cases of supplier delivery challenges (5%)

+ Manage phase-in and phase-out processes as directed by planning and sourcing, while communicating demand expectations to suppliers (5%)

+ Execute return-to-supplier processes in accordance with vendor instructions (5%)

+ Conduct market research and analyze purchase price variance, executing actions based on sourcing approvals (5%)

Required Skills and Qualifications

+ Advanced English proficiency / Knowledge in Procurement / Planning / Kanban / MRP

+ Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently

+ Capacity to work independently with a strong sense of ownership

+ Proficient in using data to assess purchasing needs and manage inventory

+ Understanding of supply chain logistics, including import and export processes

+ Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and maintenance

+ Strong vendor relationship management and negotiation skills

+ Excellent interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration with team members and suppliers

Educational Background

+ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role

Physical Requirements

+ Primarily sedentary work, involving occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. The role requires sitting for extended periods, with walking or standing required only occasionally.

Travel Requirements

+ Domestic travel may range from 0% to 25%.
