Quality Risk Director

Position Overview:
The Director of Quality & Risk is responsible for ensuring compliance with healthcare quality standards, mitigating organizational risks, and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
This leadership role is critical to maintaining patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance within the organization.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive compensation package ranging from $100,000 to $110,000, commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to healthcare quality standards such as those set by The Joint Commission (TJC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
- Prepare the organization for audits, inspections, and accreditations by regulatory bodies.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks within the organization, with a strong focus on patient safety and operational vulnerabilities.
- Quality Improvement:
- Develop, implement, and oversee quality improvement programs in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Monitor performance metrics and lead initiatives to enhance care quality.
- Policy and Procedure Development:
- Ensure the organization adheres to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Create and update policies and procedures related to quality and risk management.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to foster a culture of safety and quality.
- Provide training and guidance on risk mitigation and quality improvement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required). A Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field is preferred, demonstrating a commitment to continued professional growth and leadership in the field.
- Licensure:
- An active Kentucky (KY) or Multi-state Nursing License (Required). Must maintain licensure in good standing to practice and oversee quality and risk management activities.
- Certifications:
- A Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or equivalent certification (Required). This demonstrates a specialized, recognized qualification in healthcare risk management.
- Additional certifications such as Certified in Healthcare Quality (CHC) or Lean Six Sigma certification are highly desirable, underscoring the candidate's expertise in quality improvement and operational excellence.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and risk management within an acute care hospital setting (Preferred). Candidates with significant experience in leadership roles related to quality and safety in a healthcare environment will be given priority.
- Proven experience with regulatory standards (TJC, CMS, etc.), compliance readiness, and successful audit preparations.
- Experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives that have demonstrated measurable improvements in patient safety, care quality, and operational efficiency.
- A track record of leading cross-functional teams (clinical, administrative, and support staff) to build a strong culture of safety and quality.
- Skills & Expertise:
- A strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and other federal and state regulatory agencies.
- An exceptional ability to develop and implement policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local laws.
- Expertise in data analysis to monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and lead data-driven quality initiatives.
- Risk assessment and mitigation expertise, with the ability to proactively identify and address risks related to patient care and organizational operations.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and collaborate with both clinical and administrative teams to implement best practices in risk and quality management.
- Experience with healthcare data management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for reporting and presentations.
