Job Summary
The East Whittier City School District is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker I-ELEM to join our team. As a Food Service Worker I-ELEM, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to students and faculty while maintaining a clean and safe food service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize food service areas, equipment, and utensils to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and faculty.
- Operate food service equipment, including dishwashers and food preparation appliances, to prepare and serve food to students and faculty.
- Assist in setting up food preparation lines and maintaining a smooth food service operation.
- Heat, set up, and serve food to students and faculty, ensuring that all food is prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
- Clean and store kitchen equipment and supplies to maintain a well-organized and efficient food service operation.
- Assist in food preparation activities, such as preparing sandwiches, mixing salads, grating cheese, and preparing fruits and vegetables.
- May act as a cashier, collecting money and making change accurately, and maintaining simple records.
Requirements
- Some food service experience preferred.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic methods of preparing and serving foods in large quantities.
- Standard food service appliances and equipment.
- Arithmetical calculation processes and simple record keeping procedures.
Working Conditions
The Food Service Worker I-ELEM will work in a fast-paced food service environment, interacting with students and faculty on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and provide exceptional customer service.
