Job Title: Paraeducator, Behavior Support Technician

Job Summary:

This position requires a Paraeducator, Behavior Support Technician to work with the District Behavior Team to provide short-term, intensive behavior interventions for students in crisis. The successful candidate will work directly with students, data collection, helping school staff to engineer classrooms to provide structured behavior and visual supports, modeling behavioral interventions, and data for school staff, fading direct support as the skills of the staff increase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs Behavior Intervention for general education and for ESE students.
  • Assists teachers in the development and implementation of a social skills curriculum appropriate to students served.
  • Collaborates with school personnel to promote an educational climate that facilitates student success and academic achievement.
  • Provides direct support to students in need of behavioral services.
  • Assist in developing behavioral plans for students who exhibit extreme disruptive or noncompliant behavior.
  • Assists educational instructors in implementing strategies to work with students demonstrating emotional and/or behavioral difficulties in the classroom.
  • Implements behavior intervention procedures for students needing behavior training.
  • Collects and calculates data.
  • Builds relationships with children to better assist.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • District adopted crisis response training and certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License.

Work Environment:

Employees in this position work in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and the ability to respond to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations throughout the district.

Physical Demands:

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoors at times. Requires sitting, standing, moving about, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects frequently weighing up to 20 pounds and infrequently weighing more than 20 pounds.
