About the Position: We are seeking a qualified Substitute Van Aide to support our students with special needs in their daily transportation.

Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, this individual will assist certificated personnel in student instruction, behavior, and development of language skills. They will also perform various routine clerical, technical, and instructional tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students prior to, during, and immediately after district transportation
  • Help maintain appropriate student conduct on the vehicle
  • Assure seat belts are fastened when riding on a bus/van
  • Assist driver with helping wheel chair students on and off the vehicle
  • Collect and provide personal items left on the school bus
  • Reinforce small group and/or individual instruction
  • Prepare instructional materials and administer tests under teacher direction

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to completion of 12th grade education
  • Prior experience working with children desirable
  • Ability to assist in social skill development, self-discipline, and survival techniques
  • Effective communication and rapport-building skills

Estimated Salary: $30,000 - $40,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location.
