Job Summary

At St. Joseph's Healthcare System, we are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert clinical consultation to patients regarding the occurrence of and risk for birth defects, mental retardation, and inherited disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide genetic consultation to patients, including identification of risks, offering of appropriate testing, receiving and communicating test results, and writing summary reports.
  • Provide genetic education to medical and genetic counseling personnel.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in genetic counseling and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics or a closely related field.
  • 2-3 years of work-related experience in genetic counseling.
  • Genetic Counselor License required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail, and problem resolution.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
