Job Summary

The Physician Fellow operates in a collaborative team environment with other healthcare providers and support staff. This role involves providing patient medical care to all age groups in an office-based, multi-specialty group practice. The Physician Fellow is responsible for making sound medical assessments and treatment plans, while providing diagnostic and therapeutic medical services.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery services
  • Treat acute illnesses and injuries
  • Prescribe and administer medications, perform routine vaccinations, and provide advice on personal health and hygiene
  • Request necessary tests and follow-up visits, and refer patients to specialists as needed
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform a variety of tasks
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Provide direction to both clinical and reception support staff
  • Proper and complete medical documentation for all patient care to ensure accuracy of E/M coding and HCC coding
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Licensed in the state of New Jersey
  • Board certified or Board eligible
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in area of practice (i.e., family practice, internal medicine, or pediatrics)
  • DEA controlled substances registration
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification
  • Successful completion of CHC's credentialing and privileging review upon hire and recredentialing as appropriate
  • Strong computer skills with prior electronic medical record (EMR) use preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, hospital personnel, and community members
  • Skills to perform patient treatment procedures for most acute illnesses or injuries
  • Remains calm and effective in high-pressure and emergency situations
