Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our team at Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support to Controls Modernization Projects, performing Honeywell control system software upgrades, and assisting in the development and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to Controls Modernization Projects, including control system specification, hardware and software design, testing, commissioning, and documentation.
  • Perform Honeywell control system software upgrades, controller configurations, backups, and routine control system maintenance.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN), both software and hardware.
  • Support Microsoft Windows network administration and design.
  • Deploy security patches, anti-virus applications, and software upgrades.
  • Configure SCADA connections to the PCN and understand and configure all accepted communication protocols for linking 3rd party devices to the DCS.
  • Respond to issues and solve problems associated with the distributed control system hardware and process control network.
  • Understand the requirements and interactions of software applications in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and on the control systems network.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to optimize the PCN.
  • Develop standards, practices, and procedures to manage and maintain the PCN.
  • Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and incident investigations.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Honeywell DCS systems, including TDC3000, C300, TPS, and Experion PKS.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • 5-8+ years of refinery or related industry experience.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
  • Valid in-state driver's license or ability to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Control Systems hardware and software maintenance, migration, and upgrade strategies.
  • Refinery experience in field instrumentation.
  • Cisco networking experience with switch/router management.
  • Additional experience with various Logic Solvers (PLC, etc.).
  • Strong desire to learn, strengthen, and build skills in process control and network technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Motivated and able to take ownership of processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex assignments in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to meet project schedules and costs with minimal supervision.
  • Leader, self-starter, motivator, and mentor to team members.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA interfaces.
