Responsibilities- Execute scrub and circulating duties in the Operating Room, ensuring optimal patient care during surgical procedures.
- Assist with GI Lab procedures, showcasing versatility in providing comprehensive nursing care.
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the patient's background in preparation for surgery.
- Formulate and document a detailed plan of care in the patient's medical record, tailoring it specifically for the surgical context.
- Verify the transcription of physician's orders and ensure accurate documentation in the inpatient medical record, carry out prescribed orders to facilitate a seamless surgical process.
- Communicate pertinent patient data to the surgical team, contributing to a collaborative and effective surgical environment.
- Administer medications and Intravenous (IV) therapies, monitors and meticulously documents patient responses to ensure the safety and efficacy of the surgical intervention.
- Operate specialized equipment in the OR, including but not limited to defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors, ensuring preparedness for any emergent situations.
- Participate in discharge planning, showcasing a commitment to continuity of care beyond the surgery itself.
- Must possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and should be a registered operating room nurse.
- Shall have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in an operating room setting.
- Can provide nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
- Has and maintains current ACLS and BLS certifications.
