We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team at Boston Ship Repair. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to steel repair and fabrication on marine vessels.
Key Responsibilities- Steel Repair and Fabrication: Perform steel repairs on marine vessels, including welding, cutting, and shaping metal components.
- Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand repair requirements and specifications.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all repairs and fabrications meet quality standards and are completed in a timely manner.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure that repairs and fabrications are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various equipment, including welding machines, cutting torches, and other tools necessary for steel repair and fabrication.
- Education and Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a shipyard-related industry, with a strong background in welding and fabrication.
- Skills and Abilities: Possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to follow directions, and experience with welding and cutting techniques.
- Certifications and Training: Hold current certifications in welding and fabrication, and have completed training in blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Physical Demands: Be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
