Job Summary:

To provide comprehensive eye care services to patients with a wide range of visual problems, including diagnosing and treating visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies.

Collaborate with other healthcare providers as needed to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Prescribe and fit contact lenses, and determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients.

Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology, and participate in departmental and educational meetings.

Consult with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care issues, and assist in implementing eye care in-service education programs.

May travel to various locations based on business needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Examine patients using a full field of optometry instruments and techniques.
  • Diagnose visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribe treatment according to state laws.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses, and determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology.
  • Participate in departmental and educational meetings, and consult with other healthcare providers as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience or successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry required.
  • Licensed Optometrist in the state where care is provided.

Additional Requirements:

  • Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an interdisciplinary healthcare environment preferred or successful completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.
