Job Summary:The Post-Secondary School Counselor is responsible for providing guidance and support to students in their academic and career pursuits. This includes helping students identify their strengths, interests, and goals, and developing a plan to achieve their objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Meet with students individually or in groups to discuss their academic and career goals
- Administer and interpret career assessments to help students identify their strengths, interests, and aptitudes
- Assist students in researching and selecting post-secondary options that match their interests and goals
- Advocate, coordinate, and promote multiple pathways
- Provide guidance on the college application process, including essay writing and financial aid
- Help students identify and apply for scholarships and other forms of financial assistance
- Provide information on career opportunities and job search strategies
- Coordinate and promote educational opportunities for all stakeholders regarding post-secondary experiences
- Monitor annual matriculation information
- Pursue and facilitate activities for students along the work-based learning continuum
- Assist students in developing resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills
- Coordinate Individual Career and Academic Planning (ICAP) efforts at the building level
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to support student success
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current on post-secondary trends and best practices
- Master's degree in counseling (completed or in progress)
- School counseling experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Basic math and accounting skills
- Customer service and public relations skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Open to feedback and growth opportunities
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision
- Competitive salary range of $44,000-$71,866
- Eligibility for a new hire bonus of $2,000-$1,000 to be paid in November and $1,000 paid in March 2025 paycheck
- Participation in the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account, PERA

- Paid leave accrued in accordance with District policies and afforded to all persons in accordance with Colorado law
