Job Overview

The Pennington School is seeking a temporary Groundskeeper/Maintenance Worker to join our Operations team. This full-time, non-exempt position will work 40+ hours a week from April to October, 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the appearance of the campus by performing overall grounds maintenance, including but not limited to the following: the lining of athletic fields, leaf removal, snow and ice removal, mulching, watering, pruning, fertilization and weed control
  • Participate in general maintenance activities on all buildings
  • Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment failure
  • Assist with the preparation of event set-ups and breakdowns
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Experience with grounds maintenance and equipment is necessary
  • Ability to operate heavy grounds equipment, light grounds equipment, power equipment, and school vehicles
  • Experience with general maintenance, repairs, and carpentry required
  • Skills in facility maintenance and repairs to perform routine and non-routine services
  • Ability to adjust to new industry techniques and become familiar with new equipment as required
  • Deliver on-time services to students, faculty, and staff for all buildings on campus and effectively communicate with community members
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace in all work areas
  • Must be available for overtime/on-call hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Must pass the State of New Jersey criminal background check
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols and procedures
  • Must be able to lift up and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, pushing, reaching, climbing, and walking
