Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in navigating their hospital journey effectively and safely.

- Support patient flow initiatives by adhering to unit and Patient Services policies.
- Remain adaptable to 24-hour staffing requirements and scheduling needs across all inpatient units.
- Provide preoperative care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
- Follow medical provider directives diligently.
- Adjust patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and patient responses.
- Educate patients on maintaining or enhancing their health, particularly regarding cardiac wellness.
- Instruct family members or significant others on how to support the patient in adopting healthy behaviors post-discharge.
- Facilitate the postoperative recovery process for patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe patient care during critical respiratory or cardiovascular events.
- Address patient inquiries regarding health topics, including nutrition and exercise.
Qualifications:
- Conduct thorough assessments and synthesize data collected from various sources in a systematic manner, focusing on the patient's physiological, psychological, and cognitive well-being.
- Delegate, supervise, and implement care proficiently, adhering to established standards.
- Work collaboratively with all healthcare disciplines to optimize patient outcomes, assess discharge readiness, and anticipate discharge needs.
- Demonstrate sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills within the nursing process framework.
- Partner with medical providers and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
- Monitor and assess patients in an acute care environment.
- Administer medications in accordance with Patient Service guidelines and policies.
- Document all patient care observations and interventions accurately and promptly in the electronic health record, following established protocols.
- Ensure effective communication during patient handoffs to other providers.
- Mentor and precept nursing students, interns, and new hires in collaboration with nursing instructors and unit leaders.
Additional Information:
- Engage in quality management initiatives.
- Participate in patient care and unit activities to ensure compliance with regulatory, patient safety, infection control, and safety standards.
- Attend unit meetings and activities that support unit functionality and the organization’s overall objectives.
- Graduate from an NLN accredited nursing program.
- Participate in continuing education and in-service programs to meet organizational expectations.
- Minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Possess strong clinical nursing skills and sound judgment in handling confidential matters.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards.
