The Middle Markets division is a vital segment within Zurich, dedicated to attracting exceptional customer advocates who exhibit a sales-oriented mindset, robust technical underwriting expertise, and adept problem-solving skills.

Our industry focus encompasses a variety of sectors, including but not limited to Financial Institutions, General Industries, Manufacturing, Technology, and Real Estate. Zurich Middle Markets provides comprehensive solutions for our clients, including international programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer guidance and mentorship to a team of underwriters.
  • Oversee underwriting and pricing strategies to foster profitable growth.
  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders to identify service improvement opportunities, ensuring commercial viability and customer satisfaction.
  • Underwrite and evaluate new and renewal business within assigned authority levels.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support business retention and new opportunities, while addressing their insurance-related needs.
  • Promote the organization’s sales culture by acting as a trusted advisor for agents, brokers, and clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of various lines of business.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain rapport with team members.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the insurance industry and its legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • 6 months or more of supervisory or management experience.
  • Established relationships with producers.
  • Strong skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and effective negotiation.
  • Proficient presentation skills with a focus on solutions and service orientation.
  • CPCU designation.

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies based on numerous factors, including office location, role, skill set, and experience level. As mandated by local law, Zurich provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Additional rewards may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases.
