Job Summary:
The Security Monitor provides critical support to the Urban Resource Institute by ensuring the safety and security of our residents and staff. This role involves conducting regular facility rounds, maintaining accurate records of visitors and incidents, and collaborating with the security team to prevent theft and resident harm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a log of visitors entering and exiting the premises, recording all unusual incidents per established procedures.
- Conduct surveillance of the grounds, facility, and activities of residents to prevent theft and resident harm.
- Ensure all doors from the facility are locked and secured.
- Monitor fire and safety procedures.
- Provide administrative support in the area of office coverage, telephone, and clerical work.
- Perform light maintenance responsibilities in the absence of maintenance staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Function independently in terms of facility coverage, including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situations per agency procedures.
- Meet with Security Supervisor for individual and group supervision, and training.
- Assist with delivery of supplies and furniture.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one's skills.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Three years experience as a security monitor.
- Understanding of domestic violence and the needs of women and children.
- Experience working in a 24-hour residential facility, able to work with minimum supervision and as a team player.
- Valid NY State Registration as a Security Guard.
- Ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
