Job Summary

Perform high-quality mammography imaging exams on patients with a mammogram exam ordered by a physician. Work in a dynamic, complex team-oriented, highly productive patient care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function within professional scope of practice to provide high-quality care.
  • Image patients utilizing approved protocols and procedures, and bring questions forward before imaging patients.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking to analyze and evaluate cause-and-effect outcomes and effectively implement solutions.
  • Correct problems as they arise and notify supervisor/manager when assistance is required.
  • Ensure patient studies are reviewed for accuracy, coded, and charged appropriately.
  • Communicate professionally, effectively, and in a timely manner with all patient care providers, patients, and guests.
  • Practice responsible use of communication tools.
  • Responsible for quality assurance activities on technical equipment and collaborate with appropriate parties to resolve image quality issues.
  • Ensure all patients are provided care in a safe environment, free of hazards.
  • Implement all safety and fall precautions and communicate needs with team members through effective methods.
  • Recognize patient distress signs, initiate, and follow emergency procedures.
  • Properly administer contrast agents, utilize sterile or aseptic technique where applicable, and review medications and allergies.
  • Ensure work areas and equipment are safe, clean, organized, and appropriate supplies are available for procedures.
  • Relay all equipment malfunctions to the DI Engineering Team, supervisor, and manager with appropriate information readily available.
  • Protect patients from ionizing radiation by following ALARA and Image Gently radiation safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an approved school of Radiologic Technology and completion of 40 hours continuing education in Mammography.
  • Registry in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
  • Certification by the Texas Department of Health State Services as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).
  • Advanced Registry in Mammography (ARRT) (M).
