Swim Instructor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Hartford. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for providing direct leadership, instruction, and motivation to students in swimming classes.

• Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA of the USA and YMCA of Greater Hartford Swim Lessons Program Guidelines.
• Build effective relationships with students and parents, encouraging parent involvement and identifying potential volunteers.
• Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, referring students and parents to other programs as needed.
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance and progress reports.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled, adhering to all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Organize and maintain class equipment, reporting damaged equipment as necessary.
• Train and supervise class aides as assigned, providing a lesson plan for substitutes.
• Promote the YMCA mission and demonstrate YMCA Character Development to all members.
• Enforce all pool rules.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong passion for teaching and working with children, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain accurate records.
