Job Description

Position Summary

The Clinician will provide individual, family, and group therapy, case management counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy services to families and clients according to their specific therapeutic needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct Clinical Work
    • Provides direct clinical work and therapeutic services to clients and families as measured by supervision and direct observation.
  • Compliance and Productivity
    • Complies with productivity standards of the Agency and maintains an appropriate caseload to reach the budgeted daily expectation of billable hours.
    • Submits timely documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans) as outlined in policy and measured via productivity reports.
  • Client Assessment and Treatment
    • Continually assesses the needs and symptoms of clients and families, formulating a psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate method of providing treatment.
    • Continually assesses client progress and modifies treatment via completion and submission of outcome measures.
  • Documentation and Collaboration
    • Accurately documents all work with the client and/or family and/or relevant persons as measured by QA standards and peer review audit results.
    • Participates in clinical/case supervision by coming prepared to discuss current caseload, documentation, and productivity, and accepts constructive feedback and direction.
  • Community and Agency Relations
    • Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with clients, families, and community; works effectively within the Agency and community at large.
    • Advocating and/or ensuring accompaniment for clients (court, medical, mediation, medication, and visitations) with the goal to ensure satisfactory placement of a child in a safe, permanent, and stable home setting.
  • Knowledge and Professional Development
    • Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Phoenix House, CARF, Community Care Licensing, SAPC, DMH, and other governing bodies.
    • Develops personal and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in in-service programs.
  • Confidentiality and Agency Philosophy
    • Maintains overall confidentiality information regarding clients, families, and operations of the Agency.
    • Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job performance.
  • Professional Conduct and Evaluation
    • Maintains a professional relationship with clients, staff, and other outside stakeholders at all times.
    • Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
Requirements

Education/Experience/Credentials

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
  • AMFT or ACSW with current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Registration required.
  • LMFT or LCSW with current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Registration a plus.
  • Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment.
  • Experience in Substance Abuse or Mental Health preferred.
  • Experience with SPAC, DMH, Community Care Licensing, and other governing bodies preferred.
  • Evidenced-Based Trained/Certified in MAP, TF-CBT, SS Preferred.

  • Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with patients and families of various backgrounds.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
