Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of law enforcement professionals who are dedicated to making a difference in our community. You will be responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances, conducting investigations, and interacting with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

As a Police Officer (Lateral) with the City of Vallejo, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, and participate in specialized assignments such as detective work, traffic enforcement, and crisis negotiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and ordinances, issue citations and warnings, and make arrests when necessary.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate investigations into crimes and incidents, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
  • Respond to emergency calls, provide assistance to citizens, and maintain order in public spaces.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, share intelligence, and coordinate efforts to achieve common goals.
  • Participate in specialized assignments, training, and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a valid California P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate, one year of full-time experience as a peace officer in a California general law enforcement agency, or have been employed in a similar capacity within the last two years.

You must also possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent, and be at least 20 years old by the date of the written examination and 21 years old at the time of appointment.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $83,765 - $123,525 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits, including CalPERS retirement, medical, vision, and dental insurance, annual leave, sick leave, and uniform allowance.
