Position Overview
Classroom educators are responsible for developing a flexible and nurturing educational framework and classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development. The following qualifications are mandatory: A valid educator certificate issued by the state. Demonstrated subject matter expertise evidenced by: a degree in the relevant field; a minor in the relevant field; successful completion of relevant subject assessments; or an endorsement in the subject area. Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities outlined below represent the core functions of this role. The ideal candidate: Can articulate their educational philosophy and demonstrate its application in their teaching practice. Understands student learning and development, applying this knowledge effectively. Establishes and upholds standards of student behavior to foster an effective learning environment. Organizes instructional time to deliver a balanced program of teaching, demonstration, practice, and assessment. Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum objectives and clearly communicates these goals to students. Respects and acknowledges the individual and cultural differences of students. Possesses a deep understanding of the subject matter and effective teaching methodologies. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, providing tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Translates lesson plans into age-appropriate learning experiences. Utilizes current technology to enhance teaching and for record-keeping and research purposes. Applies knowledge of contemporary research and theories to the instructional program. Facilitates, monitors, and evaluates student learning. Assesses students' academic and social development, maintains accurate records, and prepares progress reports. Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals, developing strategies for individualized education plans. Creates and sustains a learning environment where all students are actively engaged and contributing. Provides personalized and small group instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. Designs a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning and reflects the maturity and interests of the students. Develops an engaging learning environment through functional displays, interest centers, and showcases of student work. Oversees the classroom environment, students, and volunteers. Collaborates with parents, families, and the community. Maintains regular communication with parents through newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences. Actively participates in and contributes to the educational profession. Physical and Mental Requirements
The physical demands of this position include frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and listening. Specific visual abilities are required. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must comprehend vague and implicit instructions, recall facts and details, manage conflicts, and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must effectively handle the stress associated with working with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a dynamic environment.
