About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Archaeological Principal Investigator or Project Archaeologist to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of development projects across the country, performing and directing field studies, desktop reviews, technical studies, and project permitting for private renewable energy and land development clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct background research, field surveys, and technical report preparation
  • Assess site risk profiles and develop mitigation strategies
  • Draft proposals and work plans for clients
  • Lead document preparation in a team environment and prepare or supervise the preparation of cultural resource technical reports
  • Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants, and consult with federal and state agencies
  • Direct supervision of field investigations and manage field technicians to successfully complete fieldwork
  • Prepare scopes and costs for projects as part of business development efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in Archaeology/Anthropology
  • Meets Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards in Archaeology
  • Prefer but do not require RPA registrant
  • Ability to perform cultural resources reviews and become permitted for field investigations in multiple states
  • 5-10 years of consulting experience minimum
  • Knowledgeable in North American archaeology and experience in the energy market
  • Knowledge and experience in NEPA, Section 106, and federal, state, and local agencies environmental review processes and requirements
  • Excellent research and writing skills, and ability to prepare technical reports and research
  • Familiarity with GPS and GIS applications and software
  • Able to travel for project work on a regular basis
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
