Migrant Outreach Worker/Assistant

The Migrant Outreach Worker/Assistant plays a vital role in providing health services and support to migrant and seasonal farm workers. This position requires a unique blend of cultural competence, communication skills, and a passion for community health.
Key Responsibilities- Canvass migrant farm worker camps and other residences to distribute information about health services and hours.
- Provide patient education and perform health screenings, such as blood pressure and temperature checks.
- Identify clients in need of health and social services and make appropriate referrals.
- Monitor patients with chronic or acute medical conditions and encourage compliance with treatment regimes.
- Join mobile travel teams and assist with interpreting and providing support as needed.
- Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Act as a liaison between the health center and migrant patients.
- Assist with clinic setup, closure, and cleaning procedures.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Previous experience working with farmworker populations is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and proficiency in both English and Spanish.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.
This is a seasonal position requiring 10-12 hours of work per week, mostly in late afternoon and evening hours. Extensive travel within the service area is required, with minimal out-of-service area travel for conferences and trainings. A valid driver's license and proof of personal liability and property damage insurance are necessary.
