About the Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service.
  • Exercise search and arrest authority, detain witnesses, apprehend suspects, interview witnesses and other persons involved, determine whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action.
  • Collect and preserve evidence.
  • Conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial.
  • Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings.
  • Provide sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness statements in criminal and traffic courts.
  • Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar, and breathalyzer.
  • Apprehend violators as required by applicable laws or regulations.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1) Maintaining order and protecting life; (2) Responding to citizens in emergency/non-emergency situations; and (3) Protecting of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1) Conducting law enforcement traffic patrol;(2) Enforcing traffic codes; and (3) Exercising arrest authority.
Physical Demands

The work requires extended periods of physical exertion derived from such activities as running, walking, and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more.

Education

For this position substitution of education for specialized experience is not permitted.
