Job Overview

The QA Automation Engineer (Agile) plays a crucial role in the Agile team, analyzing, creating, and automating tests for functional and security requirements of applications.

This individual develops the automation strategy and generates scripts to perform automated testing during sprints and overall regression testing.

They participate on the agile Scrum team, working in partnership with other team members to ensure the goals of the sprints are achieved by automating test cases or repetitive testing tasks.

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, creative, and proactive, able to work successfully in a fast-paced Agile program with multiple environments and technologies.

Scope of Activities

The Sr. QA Automation Engineer (Agile) will demonstrate competencies in the following job responsibilities:

  1. Serves as the QA Automation Engineer within an Agile team framework
  2. Provides QA expertise on tasks and estimates/sizing's to the Agile lead/Scrum Master
  3. Participates in design discussions/sprints to remove issues before they are coded
  4. Uses testing experience to guide how the configuration and coding will promote an easy-to-use, user-friendly, and quality solution
  5. Configures and manages Azure DevOps pipelines to execute Selenium test suites on environments
  6. Validates test data through automation scripts directly on UI and through APIs
  7. Responsible for creating and executing test design, test cases, and scripts, verification/validation, systems integration testing, and performance testing
  8. Works with the Agile Team to resolve cross-functional issues
  9. Interprets business and system design documentation and writes test cases that provide complete requirements coverage
  10. Designs test cases to include all steps and expected results in a format that can be executed manually or used for automation
  11. Ensures proper linking of test cases to developer tasks, requirements, stories, and/or defects
  12. Executes test cases and records results properly, including screenshots; defect management
  13. Participates in designing Test Plans and Test Approach
  14. Creates test data used in conjunction with test cases
  15. Works with Developers to determine when test results are not expected results as per specifications
  16. Reviews defects for validity and priority with the Scrum team
  17. Coordinates with shared services organizations on specific testing issue resolutions
  18. Develops, enhances, and maintains tools/applications for a test automation framework supporting automated functional testing using a combination of off-the-shelf and custom-built systems
  19. Integrates current automation systems into a common test automation framework
  20. Establishes requirements, evaluates, and recommends test automation tools
  21. Estimates and plans for development of test automation frameworks
  22. Defines processes and standards for implementing test automation
  23. Creates automated tests for functional/GUI validation of company products and related components
  24. Provides detailed documentation and training on automation tools and applications
  25. Ensures adherence to standards and best practices (e.g., enterprise testing standards, etc.)
  26. Reports on Test Coverage estimated work efforts
  27. Ability to write status reports for themselves, projected risk analysis, and next steps in work effort
  28. Aligns test schedules to meet project timeline testing expectations
  29. Determines test data needed for execution and identifies data gaps in the test environment
Required Credentials and Experience

10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance software testing: functional, non-functional, integration, regression, negative, and user acceptance

In-depth knowledge of test planning, test case creation, test case execution, and regression test suites/scheduling

Must have been a lead for a project

Experience in performing Smoke, Functional, Integration, Regression, Browser Compatibility, and End-to-End Testing

Good knowledge and experience in manual and automatic software testing methodology, test development, and test execution

Advanced knowledge of software automation process and the ability to create traditional testing

B.S. Computer Engineering or Computer Science (and/or significant related work experience)

Solid Experience with Software Technologies

Selenium, Java, HTML, XML, SQL, SVN, CSS

Preferred Credentials and Experience

Experience delivering presentations to varied audiences

Integration of Automation Test Suites with SmartBear, JIRA, and Azure DevOps

Relevant certifications and training
