Job Summary

The Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Head Start Teacher I to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing the program in an assigned EHS classroom, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, TDFPS Minimum Standards, and all state and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of each child, incorporating developmentally appropriate practices and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Provide care and education for children and their families in a child care setting, ensuring a supportive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the effective operation of the classroom and the overall success of the program.
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues, using clear and concise language.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
Requirements
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential required.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with children age birth to five in a licensed child-care facility.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am-6:00pm.
Working Conditions

The work environment is generally performed in a child care or classroom setting with moderate exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
