Job Title: Bridge Project Design Engineer IV

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Bridge Project Design Engineer IV to join our team in the Minneapolis, MN office.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will serve as a lead bridge engineer on mid- to large size projects, providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. They will also approve and sign off on work, provide technical expertise for studies and design efforts, and present complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
  • Participates in development of technical proposals.
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
  • Initiates and creates project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing presentation and design drawings.
  • Detailed bridge design including preparation of complete calculation packages, and development of structural details.
  • Guide drafting team for preparation of drawings from early stages of the design to the final contract plans.
  • Will produce detailed design of concrete and steel structural elements in accordance with AASHTO LRFD specifications.
  • Serves as a fully capable professional with minimal direction.
  • Understand the importance of review and quality control and able to perform review of design calculations and drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare and contribute in the development and implementation of technical approach in projects with the full collaboration with the project manager.
  • Meets with clients to ensure client needs are met.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Qualifications:
  • BA/BS + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE license in the state of Minnesota or has the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous work experience in bridge design.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads, Microstation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, MathCAD, PGSuper, and MDX.
  • Experience with OpenBridge modeler a plus.
  • Project management skills, including proposal preparation.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes.
  • Knowledge of current industry-standard structural modeling software tools.
  • Project experience with MnDOT projects and standards.
  • Master's degree a plus.
  • Ability to do occasional travel.
