As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist at SOPREMA USA, you will be instrumental in advancing our commitment to eco-friendly practices and initiatives. Your role will involve identifying sustainable opportunities, crafting and executing action plans, tracking progress, and reporting outcomes. This position requires a combination of analytical and technical expertise, along with strong interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gather and evaluate data concerning energy usage, waste production, carbon footprint, and other pertinent sustainability indicators. Utilize tools such as Excel, Tableau, or specialized software to create reports and derive insights.
  2. Training and Awareness: Assist in developing training programs and workshops aimed at educating employees about sustainable practices and initiatives. Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  3. Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee progress towards sustainability objectives and aid in the preparation of sustainability reports for internal stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams to establish tactical objectives and actionable steps that align with the corporate sustainability strategy.
  5. Facilitate collaboration with the Sustainability Ambassador Team to identify and coordinate local initiatives, including community engagement.
  6. Project Support: Provide assistance for sustainability projects, including pilot programs, audits, and certifications (e.g., EcoVadis, B Corp, EPDs). Ensure projects are executed on schedule and within budget.
  7. Maintain and update communication channels to ensure effective information dissemination throughout the organization.
  8. Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  2. Experience in sustainability reporting, greenhouse gas emissions management, or sustainability project management is preferred.
  3. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (e.g., EPDs, GHG Protocol).
  4. Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe.
  6. Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  7. Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  8. A genuine passion for sustainability and a proactive approach to environmental and social responsibility.

Working Conditions:

  1. Extended periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
  2. Willingness to travel up to 15 days annually.
  3. Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements when necessary.
