The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team as a Radiation Safety Expert. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in radiation safety and medical physics.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain radiation safety programs for the use of radioactive materials and x-rays in diagnostic facilities.
- Perform internal audits, testing of equipment, and contamination surveys to ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Monitor radiation exposure to patients, personnel, and the general public.
- Prepare documentation for licensing of radioactive materials and assist during government inspections.
- Develop and implement quality control and accreditation programs for diagnostic x-rays, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound.
- Provide radiation safety training to resident physicians and nurses working with radioactive materials or x-rays.
- Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in radiation safety and medical physics.
- American Board of Radiology certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, or Medical Physics.
- Experience with radiation safety programs, quality control, and accreditation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
